Papyrus is an Eclipse plug-in for graphical modeling of UML2. It relies on the UML2 eclipse plug-in and supports almost every diagram of UML2. It provides code generation support for C/C++ and Java. For Java, Papyrus enables synchronization between both model and generated code. Papyrus provides also a rich support for UML profiles and proposes implementations for following UML profiles: MARTE, SysML, CCM and LwCCM uml profiles. It also integrates an OCL support, either within profile definition or in UML user models.

I can't connect source code from svn: speedy.supelec.fr/Papyrus/svn/Papyrus/, but can view from browser.

It is a great UML2 tool, worthy of getting a 10, however, I am giving 9 as the following features would further augment the tool: 1) Support for the rest of the UML2 diagrams 2) A bit of stability issue is present with the tool 3) Integrated installation of all the image export, code generation plug-ins Any way, let me thank the tool developmet team, they have done a great job, Papyrus is by far the best UML2 tool in the open source domain.

I am not intersted in low level diagramming with class/sequence diagrams. Also for large systems round trips are useless waste of time as they do not clarify anything, but introduce extra complex document (round trips are good if you deal with up to 100 classes and that is rather small library/module/application and definitely not a large scale system with its business functions/services). Also I wonder when we stop thinking that class reflects coding class. It is a concept where we start and it does not need to be reflected by coder's class (check with principles of modelling with UML). The plugin lacks something essential in modeling software solution(read: not coding for a programmer who can do this with OO language) that is: ACTIVITY DIAGRAMS (or business process diagrams). They eventually turn in conceptual/class diagrams and sequence diagrams AFTER assigning responsibilities. You do NOT start modeling from class diagram. It would also be nice to have higher level of UML 2 compliance than basic like with most products (so far I find VisualParadigm the best and the most compliant).

Good generator, but without reverse-engineering, it is not so useful...

Papyrus is probably the most standard compliant and extensible (free) UML tool.

No reverse engineering and no class insert from projects. Not professional
